Economist & Data Analyst Porto (f/m)
The Economist & Data Analyst role is responsible for measuring the economical impact of Startup Portugal’s activity, mapping the evolution of the communities we serve and providing comprehensive reports with all the relevant data. Should focus on outcome and should link to purpose and objectives of Startup Portugal, reporting directly to a Director.
The applicant should have relevant experience in economic modelling and econometrics. Academic background should include a degree in a quantitative field (Maths, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science). Experience in identifying the indicators that measure the economical impact of a set of policies and initiatives, in creating surveys to collect statistically relevant information, in identifying targets to collect such data and in analysing data to produce reports for generic stakeholders, is desirable. Should be able to work well under pressure, with or without supervision. Skills and competencies should include logical and methodical skills, excellent Math skills, organization and attention to detail, reliability, initiative, good verbal and written communication skills (fluency in Portuguese and English), high computer literacy and good IT skills.
Responsibilities / Requirements
Identifying the key indicators to measure the impact of Startup Portugal’s activity throughout the time. Defining the appropriate methodologies and tools to collect data for each research project. Writing surveys and designing evaluation grids to measure economic indicators and to map the evolution of entrepreneurial and investment communities. Preparing the surveys on specialized software and testing them ahead of release. Identifying the right targets to collect relevant data for each project. Monitoring response rates and working with Marketing team when necessary, to reach significant samples of data. Analysing results and writing reports and presentations for non-technical audiences. Implementing a filing system to document this work and being accountable for complying archives. Monitoring the quality of databases of entrepreneurs, associates and investors.
