🚀 The Road 2 Web Summit (R2WS) program, a collaborative initiative between Startup Portugal and Web Summit, is celebrating its 10th edition in 2025. This milestone underscores a decade of commitment to promoting innovation and supporting Portuguese startups in reaching global audiences.
What Is Road 2 Web Summit?
R2WS is designed to prepare and support Portuguese startups for participation in Web Summit, one of the world’s largest technology conferences, held annually in Lisbon. The program offers selected startups access to discounted ALPHA or BETA packages, which include:
- Three (ALPHA) or four (BETA) tickets to Web Summit, providing full event access for the team.
- A dedicated exhibition space for one day, complete with a printed exhibition board.
- Opportunities to apply for startup activations, including Web Summit’s PITCH competition, Startup Showcase, Mentor Hours, and 40 words.
- Company branding and profile features on the Web Summit website and within the mobile application.
- Access to the Web Summit mobile and web apps to build connections prior to and during the event.
- Access to the dedicated Startup Lounge.
- Support from a startup success team to assist with pre-event preparations.
Exclusive Bootcamps and Community Building
In addition to event access, R2WS participants benefit from exclusive in-person bootcamps held in Lisbon and Porto. These sessions feature inspiring guests, including top investors and experienced founders, who provide valuable insights and guidance. Participants also join a vibrant community of founders, connecting with other startups and building valuable partnerships.
Pitch Sessions and Extra Exposure
For standout startups, R2WS offers the chance to pitch on the Startup Portugal stage during the Pitch Sessions at the Portugal x Lisboa stand at Web Summit. Additionally, selected startups receive an extra exhibition slot at the Portugal x Lisboa stand, enhancing their visibility among international investors, media, and other delegations.
Celebrating a Decade of Impact
Over the past decade, R2WS has supported 994 startups, helping them gain exposure, forge partnerships, and attract investment. The program has played a pivotal role in positioning Portugal as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship on the global stage.
