Access to information is crucial either for decision-making, whether to define strategies or to seek supportive partnerships. To facilitate this access, Startup Portugal launched Startup Hub, a map of the Portuguese ecosystem.

Access to information is considered as one of the key elements for the growth of a sector and/or business. Therefore, as the growth of the startup sector in Portugal is booming and gaining international relevance, it becomes a tool such as the one launched by Startup Portugal, which goes by the name of Startup Hub.

Startup Hub aims to aggregate and map all information related to entrepreneurship in Portugal. Thus, it gathers, in a single database, a comprehensive list of startups, investors, acceleration programs, incubators and support measures. Each list also includes specific information of each member, such as contact details, addresses, social networks and even, in the case of startups, their funding status.

Launched by the entity responsible for promoting entrepreneurship in Portugal, this is a database built by the community, since the site allows each member to  register and/or update the information to which it corresponds. Hence, updating the information is faster and easier and everyone is involved in the process.

One of the advantages of this process is to enable the construction of a visual, geographical and real-time representation of the so-called Portuguese ecosystem [a term used in the sector to designate everything that makes up entrepreneurship], which allows a better analysis of its dimension, dynamics and economic impact.

Its level of detail also allows the removal of barriers, either because it facilitates access to resources and support measures, or because it fosters the connection between the different parties in the development of synergies and in the search for joint work.

This spirit of mutual help is already visible, since there are already several companies, such as Amazon, EY- Ernest & Young, Shopkit, 360print and Revolut, which have joined the platform, providing advantages and discounts to all those who are already registered.
