Olé, Madrid! 28 Portuguese Startups Head to South Summit

Madrid, June 3 to 5, 2026

South Summit Madrid is back from June 3 to 5, bringing together startups, investors, corporates, and ecosystem players at one of Europe’s leading innovation and entrepreneurship events. This year, Portugal is showing up with 28 startups supported by Startup Portugal through the Business Abroad program.

The Portuguese startups heading to Madrid have already raised more than €49.4 million in investment, generate over €8.2 million in combined revenue, and employ more than 360 people, highlighting the growing maturity and international ambition of Portugal’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Across the event, the delegation will look to strengthen its international presence, connect with investors, meet potential partners and clients, and explore new opportunities in one of the most relevant neighbouring markets for Portuguese startups.

Why Spain, why now

For many Portuguese startups, Spain is a natural first step in international expansion. Geographic proximity, cultural affinity, and a competitive business environment make the Spanish market a key destination for companies looking to scale beyond Portugal.

South Summit Madrid adds another layer to that opportunity. As one of Spain’s main entrepreneurship events, it offers a platform for startups to connect with investors, corporates, and ecosystem leaders from across Europe and beyond.
