RNi – Portugal Incubators | Accreditation

Joining RNi - Portugal Incubators is part of a structured accreditation process led by Startup Portugal. This process is designed to recognise incubators that deliver high-quality, structured support to entrepreneurs, startups, and innovative businesses, ensuring consistent standards across the ecosystem.

Integration and Accreditation

Accreditation enables incubators to:

  • Join a national network of leading incubation organisations
  • Participate in RNi events, initiatives, and collaborative activities
  • Share knowledge and best practices with peers across the country
  • Gain visibility and recognition within the national ecosystem
  • Access public programmes that require accreditation (e.g. Startup Visa)

Who Can Apply

Incubators are eligible to apply if they:

  • Provide structured incubation services
  • Support startups, innovative businesses, or early-stage entrepreneurial projects
  • Have a dedicated team or a formal support structure for entrepreneurship
  • Meet the criteria defined by Startup Portugal

Accreditation Duration and Renewal

Accreditation is typically valid for 12 months, after which a new application must be submitted.

Exceptions:

  • Incubators approved in 2024 and 2025 will maintain their accreditation for two years, with renewal required in 2027
  • Incubators approved only in 2025 must renew their accreditation in 2026

Application Process

The application process includes:

  • Completing and submitting the online application form
  • Evaluation of the application by Startup Portugal
  • Verification of compliance with eligibility criteria
  • Communication of the final decision
